The family of popular gospel DJ Karumba Ngatia, widely known as DJ Krowbar, has announced the death of his wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba, after a long battle with illness.

In a statement released on Monday, January 26, 2026, the family said Joyce passed away at 3:00 a.m., describing her death as a moment of profound sorrow.

“She was a beloved wife, mother, and a cherished soul affectionately known to many as Joy,” the family said.

The family revealed that Joyce underwent a kidney transplant in mid-2025, but later developed medical complications that affected her recovery.

She is survived by her husband, DJ Krowbar, and their three children — Toria, Riri, and Imani.

Messages of condolence have continued to pour in from fans, fellow gospel artistes, and members of the Christian community, who have described Joyce as a strong, loving, and resilient woman.
