The fallout between Kenyan content creator Ruth Njoki Karegi, popularly known as Ruth K, and her former close friend Ann Waithera alias The Bush Tailor has escalated, with both sides trading serious allegations publicly.

On January 24, 2026, Ruth K announced that she had officially cut ties with Waithera, citing what she described as “unfavourable terms.” She accused her former friend of interfering with her digital life, including tampering with her personal social media accounts and those belonging to her son.

However, the dispute took a dramatic turn after Ann Waithera responded with disturbing counter-allegations. Waithera claimed that she and Ruth K deliberately caused Ruth’s child to cry in order to provoke a reaction from the child’s father, comedian Mulamwah.

In a statement shared online, Waithera alleged that they would pinch the child, record the crying, and then use the footage as a reason for Ruth to contact Mulamwah.
“Tulikua tunachuna mtoto akianza kulia tunarecord,” Waithera claimed, sparking outrage online.

Waithera also raised financial grievances, alleging that Ruth K had promised to pay her money that was never delivered.

In response, Ruth K dismissed the claims and maintained that she had acted in good faith. She stated that she had lent Waithera a phone, which was allegedly later used to interfere with her email addresses, social media accounts, and even her device ownership, leading to loss of access.

The public exchange has triggered heated debate online, with many Kenyans calling for accountability, especially over the serious allegations involving a minor. Neither party has confirmed whether legal action will be pursued as the situation continues to unfold.
