Two men are fighting for their lives at Kajiado Referral Hospital after allegedly being shot by a senior officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) during an incident at a popular entertainment joint in Kitengela, Kajiado County.
The shooting reportedly occurred at around 2:30 a.m. following an altercation between the officer and the two men. Witnesses said the confrontation began outside the club before escalating into violence.
The victims have been identified as Joseph Musoontu and Kelvin Maseri. Medical reports indicate that both sustained serious gunshot wounds to the abdomen, while one also suffered a head injury. Their condition is described as critical.
CCTV footage from a nearby building shows several individuals engaged in a heated confrontation at the club’s entrance at approximately 2:20 a.m. Moments later, panic broke out as patrons were seen fleeing the premises, shortly after gunshots were allegedly fired.
Preliminary reports suggest that the senior DCI officer drew his firearm and shot the two men before fleeing the scene. The officer is said to have been in the company of three other officers at the time of the incident.
After the shooting, the injured men were rushed to Kitengela Sub-County Hospital before being transferred to Kajiado Referral Hospital for specialised treatment.
The officer involved remains at large, and the DCI has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. Investigations are ongoing as authorities seek to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting and trace the suspect.
