Content creator Murugi Munyi has revealed that she ended a previous relationship to pursue love with her now-husband, Zach, and went on to marry him within just over a year.
Murugi shared the revelation on Saturday, January 17, 2026, while participating in a social media trend where users posted throwback photos from 2016. Reflecting on that period, she described the year as a major turning point in both her personal life and romantic journey.
“2016 was the year Zach and I met, and also the year we got engaged AND did our ruracio,” Murugi said, adding that she was in another relationship when she first met him in February 2016.
According to Murugi, events unfolded quickly after their first encounter. She disclosed that Zach directly influenced her decision to leave her former boyfriend.
“Zach instructed me to dump him so we could date,” she said, noting that they officially began dating in March 2016.
Their relationship progressed rapidly, with key milestones following in quick succession. Murugi revealed that the couple got engaged in August 2016, just months after they started dating.
The pair later formalised their union through a traditional ceremony, with Murugi saying their ruracio took place in December 2016. Their journey culminated in a white wedding in March 2017.
