Entrepreneur and musician Akothee has publicly criticised the father of her children, Jared Okello, accusing him of failing to take financial responsibility for their upbringing.
In a lengthy statement shared online, Akothee expressed frustration over what she termed as misleading public displays of affection and praise from Okello, which she claims do not reflect the reality of private support.
Ksh 6.5 Million Oxford Claim
The singer cited a specific instance involving a projected graduation at the University of Oxford for one of her daughters. She revealed that when she asked Okello to outline his financial contribution toward the estimated Ksh 6.5 million cost, he allegedly went silent.
“I have respected you for a very long time. However, I have come to realise that you have been taking advantage of my kindness, and I can no longer ignore it. There is no honesty in publicly praising and celebrating children you do not support privately,” part of her statement read.
Relationship Boundaries
Akothee further clarified that she no longer visits Okello’s home, citing hostility from women who came after her. However, she affirmed that her children will continue maintaining their relationship with their paternal grandmother.
“Please, put your mouth where your money is. You have full access to your children, support them properly and stop misleading the public and other absentee fathers,” she added.
The remarks have sparked conversation online, with fans weighing in on co-parenting responsibilities and public accountability.
