The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dismantled a robbery syndicate accused of terrorising wines and spirits traders across Kajiado, Kiambu and Nairobi counties.
Police said the gang conducted coordinated surveillance before launching targeted attacks on outlets, making away with cash and alcoholic stock which was later distributed through an organised network.
Alleged Mastermind Arrested
The suspected ringleader, Peter Muhia Njenga, was arrested in Nakuru after weeks of forensic tracking and surveillance.
Two alleged accomplices were also apprehended:
- John Mugo Nderito – believed to be a key distributor of the stolen consignments, arrested in Ruiru
- Elisha Njeri Katito – allegedly linked to vehicles used in the operations, arrested in Juja
Recovered Property Identified
Authorities recovered assorted alcoholic products bearing traders’ unique identification marks.
Victims from Ongata Rongai and Karen have since identified some of the recovered goods at Kikuyu Police Station.
The suspects remain in custody pending arraignment as investigations continue to establish the full extent of the syndicate’s activities.
