Nairobi Senator and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has raised serious security concerns, alleging that state operatives leaked his team’s travel itinerary in a bid to expose them to potential attack.
In a statement issued Sunday, Sifuna claimed the alleged leak occurred as the Linda Mwananchi team was transiting through Kisumu International Airport after attending a rally in Kakamega.
“We Arrived Safely,” Says Sifuna
Sifuna confirmed that the entire #LindaMwananchi team arrived safely in Nairobi, attributing their safety to divine intervention and public support.
“By God’s grace and your prayers, the #LindaMwananchi team arrived safely in Nairobi. We thank all of you who showed up and stood with us to beat all the traps of the enemy,” he said.
He alleged that they had to evade what he described as multiple traps set by their political adversaries.
Questions to Kenya Airports Authority
The senator directed sharp questions at the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), demanding clarification on how individuals he described as “goons” were allegedly allowed to barricade Kisumu International Airport.
He questioned whether the facility can still guarantee the safety and security of passengers transiting through it.
Allegations Against Airlines and Interior Ministry
Sifuna further alleged that commercial airlines booked for his team from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) shared their travel itinerary with individuals he referred to as “ghouls” within the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
According to the senator, his team received intelligence that prompted them to change their travel arrangements before any harm could occur.
“Shame on you people bwana. Thankfully we received intelligence and changed our travel arrangements. This is not the sort of country we want to live in. We must change it. We will change it Inshallah. Blessed Sunday,” he added.
The allegations come amid escalating political tensions within ODM and heightened political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election.
