Renowned TV presenter Fridah Mwaka has opened up about past encounters with politicians who allegedly attempted to lure her with expensive gifts at the height of her media career.
Speaking in an interview with comedian and content creator Oga Obinna, Fridah recounted an incident that occurred while she was working at KTN.
“He Took Me to a Car Yard”
Fridah revealed that at the time, she did not own a car and relied heavily on Uber rides to commute to work. One day, while heading to read the news, a politician who was reportedly close to her spotted her being rained on along Mombasa Road.
According to her, the politician later contacted her and requested a meeting on her off day. She agreed, and they met on a Monday.
“He took me to a car yard and told me to choose a car worth KSh2.5 million,” she disclosed.
Although she admitted the offer was tempting — particularly since she did not have a car at the time — Fridah said she declined.
“It was very tempting since I didn’t have a car at the time,” she added.
House Offer Also Rejected
Fridah further revealed that another politician had previously offered to buy her a house, an offer she also turned down.
Reflecting on the experiences, the media personality acknowledged she may have been naïve at the time but insisted she chose to protect her dignity over material gain.
Her revelations shed light on the pressures and propositions that public figures, especially women in media, may face behind the scenes.
