A tragic accident involving a school van from Blair Educational Center has left a family and community in mourning after a pupil was fatally knocked down in the Kombok area of Kisumu West.

How the Tragic Incident Happened

According to reports, the incident occurred shortly after the young girl had been dropped off by the school van near her home.

After alighting from the vehicle, the pupil reportedly walked to the rear of the van to wave goodbye to a friend who was still inside.

Unaware that the child was standing behind the vehicle, the driver reversed the van in preparation to continue with the route. The vehicle accidentally knocked her down.

Child Died on the Spot

Sources indicate that the impact was severe, and the child died instantly at the scene.

The heartbreaking incident has sparked renewed concerns about school transport safety and supervision during drop-offs, particularly involving young children.

Calls for Enhanced School Transport Safety

Parents and residents in the area have called for stricter safety measures, including ensuring that drivers confirm all children are at a safe distance before moving vehicles.

Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
