A Kenyan content creator has broken his silence after being roughed up in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) while attempting to stage a publicity stunt involving public figure Geoffrey Mosiria.
Drama Erupts Near Kenya National Archives
On Thursday, February 11, chaos erupted near the Kenya National Archives when the content creator, popularly known as Sky Bwoy, was spotted holding a placard that read:
“Geoffrey Mosiria, please be my wife. I am Sky Bwoy,”
alongside his contact information.
Footage circulating on social media showed a group of angry men confronting and manhandling him shortly after he displayed the sign.
The video quickly spread across platforms, sparking heated online debate about publicity stunts, respect for public figures, and the limits of content creation.
Geoffrey Mosiria Responds Strongly
In a lengthy social media statement, Mosiria condemned the incident and addressed what he described as a growing culture of humiliation-driven online content.
“THIS IS TOO MUCH!! I want to speak from a place of deep pain, concern, and as a parent,” he wrote.
While stating that he does not support violence against anyone, Mosiria said he could not remain silent when individuals deliberately create content intended to humiliate, defame, or dehumanize others for attention and online views.
He emphasized that beyond being a public figure, he is a father whose children could be affected by viral content circulating online.
“The internet never forgets. When this content circulates, it does not just target one person — it follows his children too.”
Mosiria warned that such actions could lead to emotional and psychological harm to innocent family members, particularly children who may face bullying.
Concerns Over Cyberbullying and Sponsored Smear Campaigns
Mosiria further alleged that some content targeting him may be deliberately sponsored to push false narratives and damage his reputation.
He called on young content creators to exercise responsibility and maturity, cautioning them against chasing clout at the expense of others’ dignity.
“Freedom of expression is not a license for cyberbullying, defamation, or psychological harm,” he stated.
He also urged authorities to step in and address what he termed as organized cyberbullying disguised as content creation.
Online Debate Intensifies
The incident has reignited conversations about the boundaries of digital content, public decency, and the responsibilities that come with social media influence.
While some netizens criticized the stunt as disrespectful, others condemned the physical assault, arguing that violence is never the solution.
Investigations into the incident have not yet been publicly confirmed.
