NAKURU, Kenya — The search for a woman who went missing in Nakuru nearly two weeks ago has ended tragically after her body was discovered at a quarry in Kogoto, Bahati Constituency.
Jackline Wangui Njoroge was last seen alive on the night of Friday, August 14, 2026, along Kanu Street in Nakuru town, according to a family relative, Michael Wambui.
Her family subsequently reported her disappearance at Bondeni Police Station and circulated posters on social media seeking the public’s assistance in tracing her.
The search took a tragic turn when Wangui’s body was recovered from the quarry. According to reports, the remains showed signs of severe physical assault and had begun decomposing.
Reports indicate that the body had visible head injuries and that the eyes and ears were missing. The circumstances surrounding the injuries remain unclear and are now part of the police investigation.
Police Launch Homicide Investigation
Detectives from the Nakuru County Police Headquarters have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding Wangui’s death.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is expected to retrace her movements before she disappeared and examine available leads, including mobile phone records, to determine who she was in contact with during her final hours.
Her body has been taken to the Annex Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination to establish the cause and manner of death.
Police have appealed to anyone who may have information about Wangui’s movements to come forward.
Investigators are particularly interested in security footage from Kanu Street and surrounding areas around the time she was last seen.
Wangui leaves behind three children, as detectives continue with efforts to establish what happened to her and identify those responsible for her death.
