Comedian Sammy Kioko has escalated his dispute with Machakos County, alleging he was mistreated by county finance officials while demanding payment for services rendered.
Kenyan comedian Sammy Kioko has intensified his standoff with the Machakos County Government, claiming he was mishandled when he visited county offices to follow up on delayed payments.
Kioko camped at the county offices on Monday, February 17, 2026, documenting the encounter in a video that has since circulated online.
Video Shows Tense Exchange With Finance Official
In the footage, Kioko is seen addressing the county’s Minister in charge of Finance, questioning what wrongdoing he may have committed to warrant the alleged hostility.
“Today I want to talk to Waziri wa Finance, Machakos County. Sijui tumekosea wapi madam? Sijui kwa nini uko na hasira hivyo,” Kioko says in the clip before playing an audio recording of their interaction.
The comedian claims that each time he follows up on pending payments, he and his team are met with hostility and intimidation.
“Maisha yetu imesimama, tunataka tu pesa yetu,” Kioko is heard saying, translating to: “Our lives are at a standstill; we just want our money.”
The finance official is heard responding: “Si mimi nimesimamisha,” meaning, “I am not the one who has stopped your lives,” before reportedly stating she was unwell and referring them to the Chief Officer in charge of Finance.
Kioko Denies Political Motives
Kioko maintained that his demands are purely financial and not politically motivated, dismissing claims that he is being used to advance any agenda.
In the audio clip, the official is heard expressing frustration, saying: “I don’t have money, I am not happy, and I am unwell,” while declining to engage further.
Following the confrontation, Kioko shared a message expressing disappointment over how the situation was handled.
“Frustrations speak loudly when solutions are the problem. Where did humanity even go? If that’s how the Minister of Finance can handle our situation with a lot of emotions, anger and intimidations, how do we even get helped? The people meant to fix things are the ones breaking them,” he wrote.
Dispute Over Pending Payments
While the exact amount owed was not disclosed in the video, Kioko insists the matter concerns payment for services rendered.
The Machakos County Government has yet to issue an official statement responding to the allegations.
The unfolding dispute has sparked debate online about delayed county payments to service providers and the treatment of contractors seeking settlement.
