Two people have been confirmed dead following a tragic road accident along the Southern Bypass in Langata, Nairobi County.
The fatal crash involved a trailer truck and a lorry that were both heading in the same direction from Kikuyu when the incident occurred.
Speeding and Wrongful Overtaking Blamed
According to Mugumoini area chief George Mukuria, the accident was caused by wrongful overtaking by the speeding vehicles. The two heavy commercial trucks reportedly sideswiped each other before losing control.
Both drivers died on the spot due to the impact of the collision.
Bodies Await Police Processing
By the time of filing this report, the lifeless bodies of the two drivers were still at the scene awaiting police processing before being transported to the morgue.
The incident caused temporary traffic disruption along the busy bypass as motorists slowed down near the accident scene.
Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially along major highways, and to avoid dangerous overtaking that often leads to fatal crashes.
