A cloud of grief has engulfed the Moi University fraternity following the tragic disappearance of a second-year student during a hiking trip.

Tragic Incident During Hike

According to reports, the student had gone on a hike accompanied by a female friend when the incident occurred. While exploring the area, he reportedly decided to swim in a nearby waterfall spring.

The female companion is said to have declined joining him in the water, choosing instead to watch from a distance despite the student’s attempts to persuade her.

Swept Away by Water

Moments later, tragedy struck when the student was allegedly swept away by strong water currents while swimming. The sudden incident left the companion and others at the scene in shock.

Search and Rescue Ongoing

Efforts to locate the missing student are currently underway, with search teams combing the area in hopes of recovering his body.

Safety Concerns Raised

The incident has raised fresh concerns over safety during outdoor activities, particularly in unfamiliar or potentially dangerous water bodies.

Students and members of the public are being urged to exercise caution when engaging in hiking and swimming activities, especially during the rainy season when water currents can become unpredictable and hazardous.
