Detectives have arrested a key suspect linked to a dangerous drugging and theft syndicate targeting unsuspecting revellers in Nairobi and its surrounding areas.
How the Incident Happened
The arrest followed a report filed at Embakasi Police Station, where a victim narrated a chilling ordeal after a night out at a city entertainment joint.
According to the report, the victim had been playing pool when he was approached and hugged by an unidentified woman. Shortly after the encounter, he began feeling dizzy.
He then left the premises in the company of the woman before losing consciousness.
Valuables Stolen
When he later regained consciousness, the victim discovered that several valuables had been stolen from his residence, including:
- Two laptops (HP and Lenovo)
- A Samsung S22 mobile phone
- Cash amounting to KSh168,000
- Jewellery valued at KSh50,000
Arrest in Ruiru
Following forensic investigations, detectives traced the suspect to the Kihunguro area in Ruiru.
The suspect, identified as Jane Wangare Ndungu, was arrested at Havilla Apartments during an intelligence-led operation.
Recovery of Stolen Items
A search at the premises led to the recovery of numerous suspected stolen items, including:
- 40 assorted mobile phones
- 14 laptops
- An iPad with a keyboard
Some of the recovered electronics were positively identified as belonging to the complainant.
Ongoing Investigations
Authorities believe the suspect may be part of a wider criminal network targeting nightlife patrons through drugging before stealing from them.
Investigations are ongoing to identify possible accomplices and link the recovered items to other victims.
