Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects and recovered a Phantom pistol during a targeted security operation in Kisumu County.
The operation was conducted along the busy Kisumu–Busia Highway following intelligence reports linking the suspects to possible criminal activity.
Ambush Leads to Arrest
According to investigators, officers laid a strategic ambush along the highway before intercepting a black Toyota Prado, registration number KCB 411A, with two occupants on board.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a Phantom pistol, a machete concealed in a black sheath, and three mobile phones suspected to be linked to criminal activities.
The suspects were identified as Evans Otieno Ongere and Abel Onyango Owuor, and were immediately taken into custody.
Suspects Held at Maseno Police Station
Following their arrest, the duo was escorted to Maseno Police Station, where they are being held pending arraignment.
Authorities confirmed that the recovered firearm, machete, mobile phones, and the vehicle have been detained as exhibits in the ongoing investigation.
