George Ruto has sparked a heated online debate after firing back at government critic Cop Shakur over claims about the alleged wealth of the First Family’s children.
The exchange began after Shakur, a former prison warder turned outspoken critic, shared a post listing what he alleged to be luxury assets owned by George and his sister, Charlene Ruto.
Claims of Multi-Million Assets
In his post, Shakur claimed that George Ruto owns several high-end assets, including three matatus, a Mercedes G-Wagon, and a Lexus, estimating their total value at approximately KSh 122.7 million.
He further alleged that Charlene Ruto owns a Bentley Bentayga, an Isuzu MU-X, a Toyota Prado, and a Ford Ranger, with a combined estimated value of about KSh 92 million.
Shakur used the claims to question the source of the wealth, arguing that the two have no formal employment history.
George Ruto Fires Back
Responding to the allegations, George Ruto dismissed Shakur’s claims and questioned his credibility, suggesting the critic lacks understanding of how wealth is generated in Nairobi.
“This one came to Nairobi just the other day. What is he telling us?” George responded in a strongly worded post.
When pressed further by another social media user, George appeared to acknowledge involvement in the matatu business but distanced himself from ownership of the luxury vehicles mentioned.
“Brother, ask me about Mood and Moneyfest, these others do not belong to me for now,” he said.
Tensions Escalate Online
The exchange escalated further after George issued a controversial remark directed at Shakur, intensifying the online debate.
The spat has since drawn widespread attention, with Kenyans on social media divided over the claims, the response, and broader questions about wealth, transparency, and public accountability among political families.
Background on Cop Shakur
Cop Shakur rose to prominence during the 2024 anti-government protests while still serving as a prison officer. He later lost his job and has since become a vocal government critic on social media platforms.
