Calvince Okoth, popularly known as Gaucho, has emotionally opened up about the toll of online rumours that falsely linked him romantically to Ida Odinga.
Speaking during an interview with Red Ring, Gaucho broke down in tears as he described the emotional distress caused by the viral claims and the impact on the Odinga family.
“Nobody Thinks About That Family”
Gaucho lamented that the rumours not only affected him but also disrespected the family of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
“Nobody thinks about that family. Just the other day, people were sharing silly photos of Mama and I… they were insulting her daughter by saying she is not married,” he said emotionally.
He accused some political figures of fueling the narrative for personal gain, claiming that individuals who once benefited from Raila Odinga’s support were now behind the attacks.
Emotional Toll and Community Reaction
The activist said the rumours left him unable to go about his daily life, adding that he was disappointed by how quickly people, including members of his own community, believed the allegations.
Gaucho further expressed regret that the late Raila Odinga was not alive to witness his political ambitions, suggesting that some of the challenges he is facing might have been avoided.
“Baba really hurt me by dying before I became an MP. Some things would not have happened,” he added.
