Kenyans on social media are demanding justice following the alleged fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy at a private ranch in Laikipia County.

The teenager, identified as Peter Edung, reportedly died after a firearm was discharged during an incident at Oldonyo Lemora Ranch on April 21, 2026.

Incident Details

According to initial reports, Edung had visited his uncle, who works as a casual labourer at the ranch, when the incident occurred.

Authorities say the firearm involved was a CZ 527 rifle allegedly licensed to ranch owner Ivan Tomlinson. Investigators have also named his 15-year-old son, Lance Tomlinson, in connection with the case.

The circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation.

Police Probe and Arrests

Ivan Tomlinson reportedly recorded a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Laikipia West before being released on a cash bail of KSh100,000 over alleged firearms-related offences.

Authorities have indicated that the juvenile suspect has not yet been apprehended. Reports suggest he may have undergone a medical assessment at Nanyuki Cottage Hospital.

Public Outcry

The incident has sparked widespread outrage online, with Kenyans calling for accountability and justice for the young victim.

Many have raised concerns over firearm access, safety measures, and the handling of the case involving a minor, urging authorities to ensure transparency and a thorough investigation.

As the probe continues, the case has become a focal point in discussions around security, privilege, and justice in Kenya.
