A family in Githurai 44 is mourning the tragic loss of a six-month-old baby girl in a suspected domestic violence incident that has shocked residents.

Tragic Incident

The infant, identified as Baby Amilia, is alleged to have been fatally assaulted by her stepfather following a domestic altercation at their home in the Kiangichiri area.

According to reports, the man arrived home and demanded money from the child’s mother, which she was unable to provide.

In a fit of rage, he reportedly snatched the baby from her arms and retreated to the bedroom.

Baby Found Unresponsive

Approximately 20 minutes later, the mother found the child lying unresponsive on the bed.

The baby was later confirmed dead, with preliminary findings indicating she had suffered multiple injuries.

Postmortem Findings

A postmortem examination revealed bruises on the forehead, left cheek extending to the mandible, and injuries to the left ear—suggesting repeated blunt force trauma.

Authorities believe the injuries may have been inflicted using a hand, possibly with a ring.

Suspect on the Run

The suspect, said to be an employee of Nairobi City County Government, fled the scene and remains at large.

Police have launched a manhunt to trace and apprehend him.

Burial Plans

The infant is set to be laid to rest at Lang’ata Cemetery, as the grieving family prepares to say their final goodbyes.

Call for Justice

The incident has sparked outrage, with residents calling for swift justice and stronger measures to address domestic violence cases.
