Police records have revealed that Tony Odhiambo, the man arrested in connection with the mysterious death of a university student in Kilimani, is also facing a separate rape case.

Previous Rape Allegations

According to investigators, Odhiambo was previously arrested in September 2025 over allegations of sexually assaulting a woman at Himalayas Heights along Kindaruma Road in Kilimani.

The incident reportedly occurred on September 15, 2025. He was later released on a free bond but failed to attend court proceedings, prompting the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.

Court Orders 10-Day Detention

In the current case, a court has ordered that Odhiambo remain in police custody for 10 days to allow detectives to complete investigations into the death of Constance Githinji.

The 22-year-old student died after reportedly falling from the sixth floor of a residential building in Kilimani on Sunday morning.

Last Person Seen With Victim

Police say Odhiambo was the last person seen with the deceased. CCTV footage captured the two entering an Airbnb apartment at Kaisa Gardens at around 4:00 a.m.

Moments later, the woman is said to have fallen from the building to the ground floor shortly before dawn.

Investigations and Key Details

Preliminary findings indicate that the two had met through a dating platform and were meeting physically for the first time when the fatal incident occurred.

Authorities are now working to determine whether the death resulted from an accident, suicide, or possible foul play.

The case has drawn widespread attention, raising concerns over safety in online meetups and short-stay apartment settings.
