Police in Machakos County rescued a suspected thief who became stuck inside a church chimney in the Kamuthanga area after residents attempted to lynch him.

Dramatic Discovery at Church

The man was found early Monday morning trapped in a kitchen chimney at AIC Kituluni Church.

Residents reportedly discovered him inside the chimney and confronted him, suspecting he had attempted to break into the church.

Mob Justice Averted

Tensions quickly escalated as locals attempted to lynch the suspect before police officers from a nearby post intervened and rescued him.

Authorities Respond

According to area sub-chief Noel Kilonzo, the suspect was later taken to Machakos Police Station for further questioning and processing.

Investigations Ongoing

Police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including how the suspect gained access to the church premises.

The incident highlights continued concerns over mob justice and the importance of allowing law enforcement to handle suspected criminal cases.
