Police are investigating an incident in which a 47-year-old woman collapsed and died while travelling in a passenger vehicle along the Makutano–Embu road in Mwea Sub-county.
Sudden Collapse During Journey
According to officers at Makutano Police Station, the incident occurred on Tuesday morning at around 7:30 am.
The woman, identified as Joyce Wanjiru Njuraita, had boarded the vehicle at Makutano stage and was headed to Ngurubani when she suddenly collapsed shortly after the journey began.
Passengers Attempt Rescue
The driver and fellow passengers quickly tried to assist her by administering first aid as her condition worsened.
She was then rushed to a nearby hospital, but was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.
Health Concerns Raised
Preliminary reports indicate that the deceased had been living with diabetes, which police say may have contributed to the sudden medical emergency.
Awaiting Postmortem
Her body has since been moved to Embu Level Five Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
