A heartbreaking tragedy has struck a family that was rushing to Utumishi Girls Academy after receiving a distress call about a dormitory fire at the school.
According to reports, the couple immediately left for the school after learning that a dormitory had caught fire and their daughter could have been among the affected students.
However, before reaching the institution, their Toyota Prado was reportedly involved in a horrific road accident along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway at Kariandusi after colliding with a trailer.
The mother sadly died on the spot while the father sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Nakuru, where he is currently admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Their daughter, who was caught up in the school fire incident, reportedly survived with minor injuries.
The tragic incident has left many Kenyans emotional online, with messages of condolence pouring in for the grieving family.
Authorities are expected to investigate both the dormitory fire and the fatal road accident.
