Police in Mbeere North Sub-County, Embu County, have launched investigations into the brutal murder of a local businessman whose body was discovered lying in a pool of blood along a rural road.

The victim, identified as Njiru Mugao, was found dead on Monday morning in Kamishara Village, Ndurumori Location, sparking shock and fear among residents.

According to police reports, residents alerted authorities after stumbling upon the lifeless body near a murram road in the area.

Businessman Left Home Early for Work

Preliminary investigations indicate that Mugao had left his home at approximately 4:30 a.m. on June 1 to travel to Ishiara Town, where he operated a hotel business.

His wife reportedly told investigators that he departed for work as usual and there was nothing unusual about his movements before tragedy struck.

Hours later, residents discovered his body and immediately notified police.

Victim Sustained Deep Head Injuries

Police officers who visited the scene found the businessman lying on his back, dressed in a black striped trouser and a black-and-white top.

Investigators noted that he had suffered multiple severe injuries, including deep cuts to the head and a serious wound above the right eyebrow.

The body also bore several bruises on the head, suggesting he may have been attacked with a sharp object during a violent confrontation.

The gruesome nature of the injuries has led detectives to treat the incident as a murder case.

Body Moved to Embu Mortuary

Crime scene officers processed and documented the area before transferring the body to Embu Level 5 Hospital Mortuary.

A post-mortem examination is expected to provide further details on the exact cause of death and help investigators piece together the events leading to the killing.

Detectives Hunt for Suspects

Police have since launched a manhunt for those responsible as detectives work to establish the motive behind the attack.

Authorities are appealing to anyone with information that could assist investigations to come forward.

No arrests had been made by the time of publication.

The shocking killing has left residents of Kamishara Village concerned about security, with many calling for swift investigations and justice for the slain businessman.
