Detectives have launched investigations into the murder of a 30-year-old advocate of the High Court whose body was found outside a residential estate in Athi River, Machakos County.
According to police, the incident was reported on Sunday, July 5, 2026, after a security guard on duty discovered an unresponsive man lying outside the estate.
The motive behind the killing has not yet been established.
Victim Identified as Kiambu Road-Based Lawyer
Police officers from Athi River Police Station, accompanied by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel, visited and processed the scene.
The deceased was identified as Edward Kariuki Muthee, a 30-year-old advocate of the High Court and proprietor of Edward Kariuki Law Firm, located along Kiambu Road.
Police said Muthee was a resident of Strawberry Estate.
Sustained Serious Head Injuries
Preliminary investigations indicate that the lawyer left his home at around noon on Saturday to attend to personal errands but never returned.
His body was later found outside the estate with a visible cut above the right eye and a deep wound at the back of the head.
Investigators believe the fatal injuries may have been inflicted using a sharp object.
CSI officers documented the scene before the body was transferred to Shalom Community Hospital Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
Police say investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the murder and identify those responsible.
