Detectives in Kisii County have launched investigations into the death of a 22-year-old boda boda rider whose body was found near his home in Marani Sub-County.
Police are investigating the possibility that the rider was killed before his motorcycle was stolen.
The deceased has been identified as Brian Onduko Machoni, whose body was discovered at around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday.
According to investigators, Machoni was last seen at about 7:00 p.m. on Saturday riding his motorcycle along the Nyakoe–Marani tarmac road.
When officers visited the scene, they established that the motorcycle was missing, raising suspicions that it may have been stolen after the rider’s death.
A preliminary examination of the body revealed no visible physical injuries. However, police noted that foam was oozing from the deceased’s mouth, prompting further investigations into the possible cause of death.
Crime scene investigators documented the scene before the body was transferred to the Marani Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
Police said investigations are ongoing as detectives work to trace the missing motorcycle and establish the circumstances surrounding Machoni’s death.
