Kiminini Residents Raise Funds for Linda Mwananchi Caravan During Stopover

Residents of Kiminini in Trans-Nzoia County on Sunday held an impromptu fundraiser to support the Linda Mwananchi caravan during a stopover in the town.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna personally received the contributions from residents, cupping his hands together as supporters handed over cash in support of the movement.

When the donations became too many to hold, the senator introduced a carton box, which was passed through the crowd as more residents continued making contributions.

Supporters reached into their pockets to donate, with some contributing banknotes while others offered coins.

Addressing the gathering from atop his vehicle, a visibly energized Sifuna thanked the residents for backing the Linda Mwananchi team and contributing towards its activities.

“The people of Kiminini, I have counted the money you have contributed here today. I have the money in my hands. This money is enough to fuel our vehicles to Nairobi, Mombasa and Kitale,” Sifuna said.

The senator, who was accompanied by Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and other leaders allied to the Linda Mwananchi movement, said grassroots support was more valuable than relying on wealthy financiers.

Sifuna maintained that he would rather receive financial support from ordinary wananchi than owe influential individuals who could later seek favours if the movement forms the government after the 2027 General Election.

He said the contributions demonstrated the growing public backing for the Linda Mwananchi movement and reflected wananchi’s willingness to directly support its activities.
