Kenyan rapper Mastar VK has accused fellow artiste Kapitani of allegedly stealing his song and releasing it as “Kitemeo” without his permission.
Mastar VK claimed that the track was originally his work and accused Kapitani of publishing it without authorization. He has since demanded that the song be removed from YouTube and other platforms.
Kapitani, whose real name is Zien Kapitani, is an emerging Kenyan rapper and songwriter from Kayole, Nairobi, who has been gaining attention in the local hip-hop scene through his unique wordplay and Sheng-based lyrics.
His song “Kitemeo”, released in 2026, became a major breakthrough after topping the YouTube Music Trending chart in Kenya and earning him wider recognition.
The rapper has built a growing catalogue of popular releases, including “Single,” “Mamdihe,” “Niwashe,” and “Control,” which have helped establish his presence in the Kenyan hip-hop industry.
The allegations by Mastar VK have sparked debate among music fans, with discussions ongoing over song ownership, collaborations and intellectual property rights within Kenya’s entertainment industry.
It remains unclear whether the dispute will be resolved privately or whether either artiste will pursue legal action over the ownership claims.
