Businesswoman and travel influencer Sarah Mtalii has appealed for restraint and maturity as the public custody dispute involving the late gospel singer Betty Bayo’s children, Sky and Danny, continues to play out online.
Speaking through her social media platforms, Sarah urged Betty Bayo’s close friends to step in and help resolve the situation privately, stressing that the children’s emotional well-being should take precedence over the ongoing public exchanges.
“I’m Team Sky and Danny”
Sarah made it clear that she is not siding with either the children’s biological father, Pastor Victor Kanyari, or Betty Bayo’s widower, Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash.
Instead, she said her concern is solely for the welfare of the two children.
“I am Team Sky and Danny. I am not Team Tash or Team Kanyari.”
She explained that while she was away on a trip, she repeatedly encountered disturbing conversations about the children every time she checked her phone.
“When I was in the bundus, every time I touched my phone, I would find disturbing conversations about Sky and Danny. I know how dear those kids were to Betty, and I know, in the midst of all this drama, how it can affect them permanently.”
Calls for Private Intervention
Sarah appealed to Betty Bayo’s friends and those close to the family to intervene behind the scenes and help resolve the matter away from public scrutiny.
She warned that prolonged public disputes involving the children could leave lasting emotional scars.
Plea to Bloggers and Social Media Users
The travel influencer also urged bloggers, content creators and social media users to exercise caution when discussing the matter online.
She reminded the public that the children have access to social media and are capable of seeing the posts and comments being shared about them.
According to Sarah, adults involved in the dispute should prioritize protecting the children’s mental and emotional health rather than fueling online drama.
Custody Dispute Continues
Sarah’s appeal comes amid an ongoing public disagreement over who should have custody of Sky and Danny following the death of their mother, Betty Bayo.
The issue intensified after Pastor Victor Kanyari recently claimed that the children had been taken from him and returned to the care of their stepfather, Tash, reigniting debate over their guardianship.
As the dispute continues to attract public attention, Sarah has called for compassion, urging all parties to put the children’s best interests above personal differences and public opinion.
