Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is now expected to be released from federal prison earlier than previously projected after U.S. prison authorities revised his release date for the second time in recent weeks.

Updated records from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons indicate that the 56-year-old rapper and entrepreneur is now scheduled for release on January 24, 2028, bringing his projected freedom forward despite recent reports of a disciplinary incident behind bars.

The revised release date follows reports that Combs was involved in a physical altercation with another inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey.

According to reports, the confrontation began after another inmate allegedly insulted Combs, prompting a fight that required prison officers to intervene. Following the incident, he was reportedly placed in solitary confinement, although prison officials have not publicly commented on the matter.

Despite speculation that the altercation could affect his sentence or delay his release, federal prison records instead show that his projected release date has been moved forward.

Authorities have not provided an official explanation for the latest adjustment. However, sentence reductions in the federal prison system are commonly granted through earned good-conduct time and other qualifying credits.

Combs is serving a 50-month federal prison sentence after being convicted in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. During the same high-profile federal trial, he was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

The case attracted widespread international attention and marked one of the most closely followed celebrity criminal trials in recent years.

As he continues serving his sentence at FCI Fort Dix, Combs’ legal team is pursuing an appeal in a bid to overturn the conviction.
