Kenyan actor and content creator Alex Mathenge has announced his decision to quit social media, putting his Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube accounts up for sale for at least KSh500,000.
Mathenge said the decision follows years of personal struggles that affected his career and wellbeing, including mental health challenges, loss of acting and content creation gigs, and the closure of his studio.
The content creator also revealed that he was forced to sell his equipment after his business struggles deepened.
Mathenge said the death of his father in 2024 was another major blow, describing that period as one of the lowest points of his life.
Despite the difficulties, he said therapy played an important role in helping him recover, regain happiness and become more productive.
However, Mathenge has now decided to walk away from social media altogether, saying he wants to pursue a normal job and live a quieter life away from the pressures associated with online platforms.
The actor also spoke about his experiences with women, which he blamed for contributing to some of his emotional struggles.
Mathenge’s decision marks a major shift for a content creator who had built an audience across several major social media platforms.
He is now seeking a buyer willing to pay at least KSh500,000 for his social media pages as he prepares to begin what he describes as a new chapter away from the digital spotlight.
