Auctioneers have scheduled the sale of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju’s Entim Sidai property in Karen after he allegedly failed to comply with High Court conditions requiring him to deposit KSh50 million as security in an ongoing loan dispute with the East African Development Bank (EADB).
According to a public auction notice published on Monday, Garam Auctioneers will auction the Entim Sidai Wellness Sanctuary in Karen, Nairobi, on August 25, 2026.
The property sits on approximately 8.164 hectares (20.2 acres) and features a colonial-style residence with nine bedrooms, a two-bedroom bungalow, staff quarters, a lawn tennis court and several other ancillary structures.
The auction notice also indicates that part of the land had been earmarked for a high-end residential development comprising 12 standalone villas. The proposed project included five-bedroom and seven-bedroom all-ensuite homes, with the larger villas planned on half-acre plots and the five-bedroom units on quarter-acre plots.
The planned sale follows a High Court ruling delivered on May 21, 2026, by Justice Moses Ado, who directed Tuju to deposit KSh50 million into a joint interest-earning account operated by lawyers representing both parties within 30 days as security pending the hearing of the dispute.
The court also ordered Tuju to file and serve the record of appeal within 60 days, warning that failure to comply with either condition would automatically lift the interim orders that had halted the auction of the property.
The dispute revolves around a USD9.3 million loan facility advanced to Tuju by the East African Development Bank in April 2015. The financing was intended to partly fund the acquisition and development of commercial units for sale in Nairobi.
The matter has been the subject of prolonged litigation in both Kenya and the United Kingdom, with the High Court and the Court of Appeal previously upholding the bank’s position that the debt should be repaid. The case is currently awaiting determination before the Supreme Court.
