The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party has announced plans to reorganise its internal structures and undertake a comprehensive rebranding as it positions itself for the 2027 General Election.
The resolutions were adopted during a joint meeting of the coalition’s Council and National Executive Committee held on Monday at the SKM Command Centre in Nairobi and chaired by coalition leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka.
Speaking after the meeting, Secretary General Caroli Omondi said the coalition had agreed to restructure its various organs while embarking on a rebranding exercise aimed at strengthening the alliance ahead of the next general election.
As part of the changes, the Council admitted three new members into the coalition: Jubilee Party deputy leader Fred Matiang’i, Party of National Unity (PNU) leader Peter Munya, and Devolution Empowerment Party leader Lenny Kivuti.
The coalition also resolved to invite additional political parties to join the alliance. Those lined up for admission include the Democratic Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) led by Eugene Wamalwa, Umoja na Maendeleo led by Kawira Mwangaza, the People’s Democratic Party led by Omingo Magara, and the Democratic Party led by Justin Muturi. All four leaders attended Monday’s meeting at the SKM Command Centre.
Omondi noted that DAP-K, which was previously a founding member of the coalition, had been invited to rejoin, adding that Wamalwa confirmed the party would return after completing its internal processes. The other invited parties also indicated they would formally join once their respective internal procedures are concluded.
The National Executive Committee further approved the admission of Abdi Hassan from the North Eastern region into the National Executive Council, a move the coalition said was intended to enhance its national representation.
The meeting also mandated Kalonzo to continue engaging other like-minded political formations, including the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), the People’s Liberation Party (PLP), the United Green Movement, and the Linda Mwananchi Party once it is officially registered, with the aim of building a broader opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 elections.
The session was attended by Executive Director Philip Kisia, Secretary General Caroli Omondi, and representatives from affiliate parties including the Wiper Patriotic Front, Jubilee, ODM, NARC, KANU and PNU.
