KILIFI, Kenya — Detectives in Kilifi County have launched investigations into the alleged murder of a 36-year-old woman in the Mbuuni area of Sosoni Ndogo Centre, Magarini Sub-County.

The victim, identified as Neema Charo Nchengo, was allegedly lured from a makeshift structure together with her three daughters before the children were tied to a tree.

The three girls are aged 17, seven and five years.

Woman Allegedly Assaulted and Killed

According to police, the children were tied together to a tree while their mother was taken approximately five metres away.

Investigators said Nchengo was allegedly sexually assaulted before she was killed. The motive behind the incident had not been established at the time of reporting.

Police officers who visited the scene found the woman’s body in nearby bushes.

Preliminary examination revealed multiple injuries, including stab wounds above the umbilical area, on the left side of her chin and on the right side of her head.

She also had several head injuries that police believe may have been inflicted using a blunt object.

Investigators said preliminary observations indicated that she may have been sexually assaulted before her death.

Detectives Process Crime Scene

Police officers processed the scene and collected evidence as part of investigations aimed at establishing what happened and identifying those responsible.

Nchengo’s body was subsequently removed and taken to the Malindi Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending a post-mortem examination.

The post-mortem is expected to provide further information on the cause and circumstances of her death.

Police Launch Hunt for Suspects

Detectives have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify the people behind the attack.

The motive remains unknown as investigators continue interviewing witnesses and examining evidence from the scene.

The incident has raised concern in the area, particularly following the alleged ordeal involving Nchengo’s three children, who were reportedly present during the attack.
