NAIROBI, Kenya — Leaders within the United Opposition under the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition have agreed to rebrand the political outfit as they seek to create a more inclusive opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The decision was reached during a meeting involving members of the Joint Azimio Council and National Executive Council (NEC) held at the SKM Command Centre in Karen on Thursday.
Azimio Secretary General Caroli Omondi said the proposed rebranding was part of efforts to strengthen the coalition and position it for the 2027 political contest.
Azimio Reviews Applications From New Parties
According to Omondi, the meeting also considered applications from political parties seeking to join the Azimio coalition.
The Joint Azimio Council and NEC approved the applications, paving the way for the interested parties to formally become part of the coalition.
The move could significantly reshape the opposition landscape as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
Caroli Omondi Explains Azimio Rebranding Plan
Omondi said the meeting also addressed routine administrative matters, including discussions on how the coalition could be rebranded to accommodate a wider range of political players.
“We had normal housekeeping issues to look at the options of rebranding,” Omondi stated.
The planned rebranding comes as opposition leaders continue efforts to consolidate their political base and build a broader coalition capable of challenging the ruling side in the 2027 General Election.
