An American woman living in Kenya has raised concerns after claiming she received a $374 (approximately KSh48,000) card alert shortly after visiting Mama Oliech Restaurant in Hurlingham, Nairobi.
According to the woman, she discovered that attempts had been made to use her bank card after she had left the restaurant.
She alleges that her card was subsequently used at Naivas, where two women reportedly made several purchases before attempting a larger transaction that was declined after her bank alerted her.
The woman further claims there were attempted transactions linked to Mama Oliech Restaurant, prompting her to suspect that her card details may have been compromised while she was at the establishment.
The allegations have since sparked concerns online about the security of customers’ card information when making payments at restaurants and other businesses.
However, the claims have not been independently verified, and there is currently no confirmed evidence establishing that Mama Oliech Restaurant or any of its employees were responsible for the alleged transactions.
The incident highlights the importance of monitoring bank notifications and immediately reporting suspicious transactions to financial institutions.
