Two suspects have been arrested after allegedly snatching two mobile phones from a member of the public in a crackdown targeting criminal activities in Kasarani, Nairobi.
The suspects were arrested on Sunday in the Clay City, Sunton and Hunters areas after they allegedly attempted to evade police officers.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the suspects’ attempt to escape prompted officers to pursue them before they were eventually cornered and arrested.
“The duo attempted to evade arrest, prompting a swift pursuit by the officers, who cornered and apprehended them,” the NPS said.
Police conducted a further search after the arrest and recovered the stolen mobile phones alongside several crude weapons suspected to have been used in criminal activities.
The recovered items were taken into police custody as evidence as investigators continued with the case.
The two suspects remain in police custody pending arraignment in court, where they are expected to face charges related to the alleged robbery.
The arrests form part of ongoing police operations targeting suspected criminals in various parts of Kasarani.
