The man who drowned after a car he was in with a woman plunged into a dam at the Titanic area in Juja was married.

Tirus Maina’s wife Sarah Kiiru has said that her husband had called her on Tuesday night and told her that he was going for a meeting. Maina was a business man who sold engineering equipment.

According Tirus Maina was a businessman, eking out a living selling engineering machinery.

Sarah says Maina called him at about 7pm on Monday, saying he was in a business meeting in Juja.

It was the last time she spoke to him.

“My husband left home for work on Monday morning, and we spoke in the evening around 7pm. He said he was in Juja for a business meeting, I asked what he would want for dinner and that was the last time we spoke,” Sarah has told Citizen Digital.

According to Sarah, after their last conversation, Maina’s phone went off and none of her messages were replied to.

“I called and sent him messages but he was unreachable, very unusual of him because he has always been accessible,” she said.

According to her, she was told on Tuesday at around 2pm that she was called by a friend and told to report to Kimbo police station where she learnt about her husband’s demise.

The Titanic Dam is a well-known park-and-chill spot among the locals and revellers who want to have fun in a natural environmnent.

According to the locals, the two were making merry in the car that was parked a few metres from the dam and at around 9.30 pm, they heard a woman screaming for help.

Maina was in the company of an identified woman and his body was retrieved on Wednesday and taken to City Mortuary together with the woman’s body where the wife identified him.

The woman’s body has not been identified yet
