Police in Kirinyaga are looking looking for a man who is suspected to have killed his lover and buried her in their house in a shallow grave in Thiba village. Joyce Nginya, 44 is said to have gone missing on Sunday last week, according to her family.
“I was called today morning by my sister’s children who told me that their mother was missing and I was shocked to see her body buried in a shallow grave under her bed and that’s when I informed the police officers,” said Jane Njeru who is a sister to the deceased.
According to Jane, Joyce had separated from her former husband in 2011 but had recently gotten into a relationship with a man they don’t know. The only information they know is that the man hails from Muranga.
“I don’t know the man, I only know the former husband whom they separated in 2011,” said Jane.
Mwea-west Sub-county Deputy Police Commander Sammy Beauttah said the victim’s body was discovered on Tuesday.
“The matter was reported by the family members at Kiamaciri police station and after visiting the house we found the victim’s body… Joyce Nginya was buried in a shallow grave and that was when we started the process of exhuming the body after a court order from Baricho law court,” said the police boss.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kerugoya hospital mortuary as a manhunt for the suspect continues.
