Police in Kitutu Masaba Constituency in Kisii are investigating an incident where a Grade Eight pupil at Bitundugusu Primary School was harshly beaten leading to damage to one of his testicles which was later removed.
The boy was allegedly beaten by one of his teachers on Friday, March 24.
The victim is still at Bosongo Hospital where he was referred by Getare Dispensary in Nyamira with swollen reproductive organs.
After examination, the medics at the facility revealed that one of the boy’s testicles was irreparably damaged “testicular torsion” forcing them to operate and remove it to relieve the pain.
“He was brought to us in a critical condition. We performed an emergency operation on him last Friday. He is still recovering, but is too weak to even walk,” said a nurse.
The school’s deputy head teacher the however said that the pupil was suffering from genital problems.
Police in Nyamira have confirmed that the boy’s mother had filed an assault report under OB number 14/03/04/2023 and that investigations had begun to establish the circumstances under which the teachers allegedly castrated the boy.
Nyamira County Police Commander James Mitugo said the matter had been reported to them and they were investigating.
“We have the case and we are pursuing it,” Mitugo said.
Doctors say the boy is now out of danger and could father a child, even with one remaining testicle
