Police in Nyeri are investigating a long-standing unsolved murder case following a confession made by a man who voluntarily surrendered.

The shocking revelation centers around the murder of 70-year-old Stephen Ngari, which occurred on October 12, 2019, in the quiet Kimahuri area.

The perplexing case had remained stagnant in the annals of unsolved crimes, until September 6, when a former employee of the deceased walked into the Narumoru police station and claimed responsibility for the murder of Ngari.

The suspect, who had previously worked under the victim, alleged that his employment was abruptly terminated on October 11, 2019, which apparently triggered his heinous act.

According to the suspect’s confession, he chose to end Ngari’s life after his termination and subsequently looted the cabbages from the deceased’s farm before fleeing the area.

The victim’s body was discovered a day after the tragic incident, and the case had since languished in an investigative limbo.

The suspect is now in police custody, awaiting arraignment. Law enforcement officials have expressed their intention to request an extension of the suspect’s detention period as they continue to interrogate him for additional details surrounding the crime.
