Officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) apprehended Deputy OCS Police Inspector George Chacha and Police Constable Elizabeth Mwongeli Muthoka at Ikino Police Station in Kiambu County.
The arrest was made in connection with their alleged demand for a Ksh50,000 bribe.
According to the EACC report, the two officers had demanded the bribe as a “motivation fee” for the Deputy OCS to release a complainant’s motor vehicle, despite the complainant possessing a valid court order for its release.
The arrest occurred on Monday, September 18, after the officers received the demanded amount from the complainant at Ikino Police Station. Following their apprehension, both individuals were processed at EACC Integrity Centre Police Station and later at Kilimani Police Station, pending further enforcement actions.
This incident underscores the ongoing efforts by the EACC to combat corruption and address cases of police officers engaging in bribery and extortion activities, particularly along Kenyan highways and roads.
