Field Marshal Muthoni wa Kirima, a revered freedom fighter, has passed away at the age of 92.
On Tuesday morning, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua announced the sad news of her death. Field Marshal Muthoni was a prominent female fighter in the Mau Mau war, and her legacy is celebrated.
Gachagua paid tribute to her leadership and courage, highlighting her role in leading the land and freedom army following the capture of freedom hero Dedan Kimathi, for whom she served as a personal assistant. He noted that she continued the struggle after Kimathi’s betrayal by collaborators.
“We remain indebted to these great heroes and heroines for their sacrifice in liberating our land,” Gachagua emphasized.
