In a startling turn of events, Anne Adhiambo Ouma, who goes by the alias ‘Nut,’ has entered a guilty plea in the case of Eric Maigo, the Nairobi Hospital Finance Officer’s killing. Ouma, identified as an adult, stood before High Court Judge Kanyi Kimondo and openly confessed to the crime.
The unusual development occurred after a court clerk recited the charges against Ouma in Swahili, not once, but three times, ensuring her full understanding of the accusations. Judge Kimondo, however, issued a stern warning to the accused about the consequences of her guilty plea.
He questioned Ouma, confirming her knowledge of the allegations against her, to which she responded with a resolute ‘ndio’ in Swahili, signifying her acknowledgment of the charges.
In the interest of justice, Judge Kimondo granted Ouma time to consult with her legal representative, lawyer Samuel Ayora, before proceeding with her plea.
The case is slated for mention on November 8 at the Kibera Law Court, where the formal plea-taking is expected to transpire, shedding further light on this high-profile murder case.
