An accident involving a bus, tractor, and a trailer on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway resulted in the tragic loss of at least five lives, with several individuals sustaining injuries. The accident happened at the Kambu area situated in Kibwezi, Makueni County on Tuesday night
Peter Maina, the Kibwezi Sub-county police commander said that the ill-fated bus was en route from Nairobi to Mombasa. It collided with a tractor, causing it to swerve off course and subsequently collide head-on with an oncoming truck.
Tragically, five passengers lost their lives at the scene of the collision, and many others were injured, now receiving medical care in nearby hospitals.
This particular stretch of the Nairobi-Mombasa highway has witnessed a series of accidents in recent months, leading to numerous casualties.
Authorities have pointed to factors such as driver fatigue and a lack of adherence to road safety rules as contributing to this worrying trend.
