Jada Pinkett Smith is delving into her past relationships, particularly her friendship with the late rapper Tupac Shakur, revealing a unique connection.
After recently disclosing that she and her husband, Will Smith, have been leading “completely separate lives” since 2016, Pinkett Smith opened up about her friendship with Tupac Shakur in an interview with RollingOut.
When asked if she considered Shakur, who tragically lost his life in a 1996 shooting, to be her “soulmate,” Pinkett Smith agreed and discussed their profound connection.
She expressed, “If there is such a thing as past lives, I definitely think that Pac and I have traveled a few together.” Pinkett Smith’s friendship with Shakur began during their teenage years when they were both residing in Baltimore, Maryland.
Regarding any romantic involvement, Pinkett Smith clarified that it “wasn’t possible” due to a lack of romantic chemistry between them.
However, when the interviewer suggested that their chemistry was evident to others, Pinkett Smith explained, “It’s that friendship love chemistry. It was almost like God made us that way. It was like, look, I’m going to put y’all together, right? Y’all are going to be a dynamic duo. But I’m going to tell you right now, I’m going to make it so y’all are not going to be able to get together because that just wasn’t the purpose.”
Jada Pinkett Smith has been actively promoting her upcoming memoir, “Worth,” set to release on October 17. In the book, she delves into her relationship with Tupac Shakur.
In a new clip from “Jada’s Story – An NBC News Special,” Pinkett Smith revisits the 2022 Oscars incident where her husband, Will Smith, confronted Chris Rock for making a joke about her alopecia hair loss.
Pinkett Smith expressed her shock about the incident and the fact that she and Will Smith no longer refer to each other as husband and wife.
During the NBC special, she explained, “First of all, I’m really shocked because, mind you, I’m not there. We haven’t called each other husband and wife in a long time.”
The full NBC special aired on Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
