Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has through an internal memo banned students from sporting miniskirts, rugged jeans and other regalia, with claims that it is ‘indecent and unofficial.
According to the institution’s Dean of Students Bernadatte Abwao, a significant number of students in the school had adopted ‘unofficial’ clothing like ripped clothes, while others donned shirts with graphic writings on them.
The memo further bans female students from wearing revealing blouses, crop-tops, short dresses, shorts and skintights, failure to which they will not be allowed in school. On the other hand, male students are prohibited from wearing revealing shirts and sagging pants.
“As a student, you are expected to dress decently in modest and appropriate attires,” Reckoned Abwao.
Abwao further appreciated the students who dress decently when they go to the university for classes.
“We have, however, observed and noted with concern the indecent dressing by some of you,” the dean of students said.
