A shocking discovery was made today by the police in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado, when they uncovered 26 sacks of bhang with an estimated value of Ksh 6 million concealed within church premises.
The church in question, known as “African B Church,” had been secretly engaged in illicit activities that had largely gone unnoticed by the community and local authorities.
James Taari, the Deputy County Commissioner in Kajiado North, expressed his disbelief upon encountering the situation.
He pointed out that the primary suspect had managed to evade capture but underscored the gravity of this discovery.
“This is a significant breakthrough. This so-called church is, in reality, a hub for criminal activities,” Taari said further noting that the church’s management has now become subjects of interest, with suspicions arising regarding their involvement in the sale of bhang to local youths.
The suspects were apprehended thanks to a tip-off from concerned residents in the area. At the time of their arrest, the suspects were in the midst of a feast after slaughtering some goats on the church premises.
Moreover, law enforcement officers also claimed to have recovered stolen property, including electronics and furniture, suggesting that the suspects might have been involved in other criminal activities beyond drug trafficking.
