Law enforcement authorities in Nairobi are conducting an investigation into the ownership of a firearm that was discovered abandoned in the men’s restroom of a popular restaurant in the Kilimani area of Nairobi.
The incident unfolded when a patron, believed to be a licensed firearm holder, visited CJ’s Restaurant located at the Ola Petrol Station along Argwings Kodhek Road in Yaya Centre.
Regrettably, the individual unintentionally left behind a Steyr C9-A2 MF pistol on the toilet cistern. The pistol which contained 16 rounds was discovered on Sunday afternoon.
The firearm was found mere moments after the owner had exited both the restroom and the restaurant, causing alarm and concern among witnesses present.
The restaurant’s manager promptly contacted the local police, who took possession of the firearm for safekeeping.
Adamson Bungei, the Nairobi police boss, has stated that they are currently in the process of tracing the firearm’s owner for questioning. He added that once they locate the owner, they will then determine any necessary further actions.
